Help Shape Water Conservation – Take the CRD Water Use Survey

The Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE) and the Water Research Foundation (WRF) are conducting the Residential End Uses of Water Version 3 study, led by Flume Data Labs and WaterDM. This research aims to improve understanding of water use in single-family and multi-family households, which can be used to improve engineering estimates of residential water consumption for planning conservation programs, supply planning and other purposes. The CRD was accepted as a study participant in 2024 and has contributed detailed billing, demand management, and regional water use data for analysis. To learn more about the study, please visit the Water Research Foundations website.

As part of the study, a brief online survey is being conducted to gather insights from CRD residents on their water use. The survey covers water-using fixtures, appliances, landscaping, and more, with updates from previous studies to track changes over time. Survey findings will help CRD staff refine indoor and outdoor water conservation and demand management programs with greater accuracy. The findings will be shared with municipalities and will help us better understand water use within our community. Additionally, findings from our region will be compared against findings from other cities across North America.

We invite all residential customers, both single-family and multi-family, to participate. The survey is open until the beginning of April. When complete, you have the opportunity to enter the draw to win an iPad.
