With the arrival of cooler weather, here are some recommended operating tips to help meet your preferred level of thermal comfort and energy usage during the winter.

Further to our notice from earlier this morning, emergency pump station repairs have now been completed and service has been restored to the community energy loop.  If your heat pump is experiencing operational problems, please contact us by email (service@ssl-bc.com) or phone (250-391-7260).

Resetting power to your home’s heat pump at the electrical breaker panel can also restore service in some cases and you may wish to attempt this step before requesting technical service.  As this incident may have impacted multiple customers, it could take longer than usual to dispatch a heat pump technician, but we will work to resolve all issues as soon as possible and appreciate your patience.

Early this morning, the main pump station which services the Westhills Community Energy System experienced a significant pipe failure.  As a result, many residential heat pumps may experience operational problems until we are able to complete repairs at the pump station and restore full service to the community energy loop.  We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

In the meantime, if your heat pump is not working or is experiencing any unusual sounds or vibrations, we advise that you shut it off (either at the thermostat or electrical breaker) or switch the mode to Em Heat /Aux Heat until we can confirm that service is restored.  We will also be mobilizing our heat pump technicians over the coming hours and days to assist in the restoration of residential services.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will provide further updates as soon as they are available.

Victoria, BC – The Capital Regional District (CRD) Integrated Water Services advises residents that a stronger than usual chlorine smell and taste may be noticed until the end of January in some parts of Greater Victoria, as the result of maintenance activities related to the disinfection process that will be completed by January 18, 2021.

From December 5, 2020 to approximately December 13, 2020, the Capital Regional District will be transferring the source of supply for the Greater Victoria Water system from Sooke Lake Reservoir to the Goldstream Reservoir System in order to inspect the Kapoor Tunnel.

On September 4, 2018, SSL filed with the BCUC an application to register the Westhills Thermal Energy System (Westhills TES) as a Stream A Thermal Energy System (TES).  This application was made in accordance with the BCUC Thermal Energy Systems Regulatory Framework Guidelines (TES Guidelines).

Please be advised that SSL will be flushing the water mains in your neighbourhood on Wednesday, November 13th, 2019. Flushing is a regular part of annual system maintenance which helps keep our drinking water safe and clean. It is also undertaken to verify the reliability of all fire hydrants and perform repairs if needed.

Please be advised that we will be performing maintenance work on the Westhills water system between Tuesday, December 4^th and Wednesday, December 12^th, 2018.

A possible Canada Post labour disruption may occur as early as midnight on Monday, October 22, 2018. This could impact the delivery of SSL lettermail invoices or payments being mailed to SSL.

From December 11^th, 2017 to approximately December 19^th, 2017 the Capital Regional District (CRD) Integrated Water Services will be transferring the source of supply for the Greater Victoria Water system from Sooke Reservoir to Goldstream Reservoir in order to inspect the Kapoor Tunnel.

CRD Parks & Environmental Services in partnership with the Irrigation Industry Association of BC offer free introductory irrigation workshops to homeowners in the Capital Region connected to the Sooke Lake Reservoir water supply.
